Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach, Dr Jonny Bloomfield, is partnering with Duality Healthcare to help transform how healthcare is being delivered in Northern Ireland by aligning high quality GP services with proactive, personalised Health Coaching. Together, they aim to shift public mindsets beyond the traditional “sick care” model which access healthcare when urgently needed, to moving towards pro-active prevention, behaviour change and long term wellbeing support for individuals, families and workplaces.
Dr Jonny Bloomfield is a Belfast based UKIHCA Registered Health Coach with a PhD in Sport Science and a background working in elite sport and executive health, beginning his career at Ulster Rugby. He specialises in helping busy professionals improve their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing through sustainable changes in areas such as stress, sleep, nutrition, movement and energy management. Jonny’s coaching approach is evidence-based, practical and highly personalised, making him a trusted guide for those who want to protect their long term health, not just quick fix it.
Health coaching is an evidence-based, collaborative process that helps people develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to take an active role in their own health, using lifestyle and behaviour change to improve wellbeing. Across the NHS, Health Coaches are now recognised within the personalised care workforce and are increasingly being integrated into primary care as a strategic way to shift from reactive treatment to preventative, person-centred care that supports the NHS Long-Term Plan.
Duality Healthcare is a forward-thinking healthcare provider committed to modernising access to GP and specialist services across Northern Ireland. By combining traditional clinical excellence with longer appointment times, innovative care models and greater accessibility, Duality is focused on providing a more personal, responsive and joined-up experience for patients. Their vision is to build a system where people feel listened to, supported and empowered to pro-actively manage their health.
Through this partnership, Duality patients will have the opportunity to benefit from integrated Health Coaching alongside medical care, helping them to understand their risk factors, build healthier habits and follow through on lifestyle recommendations from their GP. This joined up approach aims to reduce the burden of preventable illness, improve quality of life and create a more sustainable healthcare model for the future.
Commenting on the partnership, Dr Bloomfield said:
Working with Duality Healthcare is an incredibly exciting step for me because we share the same belief that healthcare should not just be all about prescriptions and procedures, it should be about helping more people stay well by building healthy habits and mindsets. By bringing together high quality GP care with tailored Health Coaching, we can provide people with both the medical insight and the ongoing support those need to make real, long lasting behaviour changes that lead to better outcomes. I’m delighted to be joining forces with a team that is genuinely committed to transforming how health is delivered in Northern Ireland.
