Sick notes, fitness-for-work assessments, return-to-work letters and employer-requested medical reports — issued by a private GP.

Important things to know

  • A GP consultation is always required. For clinical, legal and regulatory reasons, we cannot issue any letter or report without seeing you in a consultation first.
  • Additional fees may apply depending on the type of documentation needed — your GP will confirm any extra cost during your appointment.
  • Not all requests can be supported. If your request isn't clinically appropriate, your GP will explain why and suggest alternatives where possible.

FAQs

Common questions about medical letters & reports.

Do I need a GP appointment to request a medical letter?

Yes — all medical letters and reports require a 15-minute GP appointment, either face-to-face or virtual. This allows the GP to assess your request and ensure any documentation issued is clinically accurate and meets regulatory standards.

Can I request a letter without speaking to a GP?

No. For clinical, legal and regulatory reasons we are unable to issue medical letters or reports without a GP consultation.

What types of work-related letters can you provide?

We can provide sick notes, fitness-for-work and fitness-for-duty letters, return-to-work assessments, occupational health summaries, and employer-requested medical reports. Availability depends on clinical appropriateness and the information required by your employer.

How long does it take to receive my letter or report?

In many cases the documentation is issued shortly after your appointment. More complex reports — for example, occupational health summaries that require record review — may take longer. Your GP will give you a clear timescale during your consultation.

Can my employer request a report directly?

Employers can request reports, but the patient must always book the appointment, attend, and provide consent for any documentation issued. Speak to our team if your employer needs a specific format and we'll explain what we can and can't support.

Are these letters recognised by employers and insurers?

Yes — our letters and reports are issued by GMC-registered private GPs and are recognised by UK employers, insurers and regulatory bodies in the same way as other private GP documentation.

Need a letter for work or compliance?

Book a 15-minute GP appointment and we'll arrange the right documentation for your situation — issued by a GMC-registered private GP and recognised across the UK.
