Governance Lead New
The Governance Lead is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining effective governance, risk management, compliance and quality assurance frameworks across Duality Healthcare. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Operating Officer, the role ensures the organisation operates in line with healthcare regulations, professional standards and internal policies, while driving continuous improvement in patient safety and service quality. The postholder will also support the ongoing development of nursing and HCA staff and provide expert clinical input into procurement and standardisation initiatives.
Quality governance
- Lead on clinical governance activities, ensuring compliance with regulation and best practice standards
- Oversee incident and complaint management processes, ensuring timely investigation, resolution and shared learning
- Develop, implement and maintain clinical policies — keeping them up to date and evidence based
- Lead delivery of the clinical audit programme to monitor and improve quality of care
- Chair monthly Governance, Compliance & Quality Meetings; prepare and submit reports to Quarterly Clinical Governance and Board Meetings
- Monitor changes in healthcare regulation and advise leadership on necessary actions
- Prepare for regulatory inspections and audits
- Maintain the corporate risk register
Professional clinical leadership
- Provide visible and accessible clinical leadership across the organisation
- Support the Nursing and HCA staff group in their continued professional development
- Support the Operational Team in developing strategic and service-development initiatives
- Promote a culture of learning, reflection and continuous improvement in clinical practice
- Act as a role model for safe, effective and compassionate care
Clinical expertise & procurement support
- Provide expert clinical advice supporting procurement, evaluation, rationalisation and standardisation of clinical consumables to enable cost savings across the Group
- Work collaboratively with operational teams to ensure cost-effective, clinically appropriate purchasing decisions
- Ensure all clinical consumables meet quality, safety and infection-control standards, and are appropriately stored and accounted for
Essential criteria
- Registered healthcare professional with current registration with the relevant professional regulatory body
- Experience managing clinical incidents, complaints investigations, audits and service-improvement initiatives
- Experience supporting regulatory inspections
- Significant post-registration experience in a similar quality-governance role
- Proven leadership and/or management experience
- Strong understanding of clinical governance, policy development and audit processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead change, influence stakeholders and inspire teams
Desirable criteria
- Experience in procurement or standardisation of clinical consumables
- Formal teaching, mentoring or coaching qualification

A Duality Healthcare Registered Nurse works collaboratively with clinicians to deliver high-quality patient care across a range of services — including blood tests, spirometry, ECGs, wellness checks and routine observations. The role involves supervising healthcare assistants, coordinating and delegating tasks within your scope of practice, assisting with clinical procedures, providing essential administrative support and ensuring a seamless patient experience — all while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and best practice. Leadership & management
- Provide direct supervision, support and leadership to Healthcare Assistants
- Allocate and delegate duties appropriately according to competence, training and scope of practice
- Support induction, training and competency assessment of all new HCAs
- Liaise with the Regional Operational Manager to ensure safe staffing
- Escalate concerns to the Practice Coordinator, Lead Nurse or Regional Operational Manager as applicable
- Contribute to clinical governance, audit and quality improvement activities
Clinical duties
- Participate in infection prevention and control activities; ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- Ensure consultation rooms are prepared and checked daily for each clinic — clean, PPE replenished, accurate records kept
- Equipment cleaning in line with infection control procedures, maintaining accurate records
- Chaperone and assist GPs and Consultants

Professional responsibilities
- Maintain active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and comply with the NMC Code
- Participate in continuing professional development and mandatory training

Essential criteria
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration
- Minimum of one year's post-registration experience
